I discuss the intrinsic properties of high-z, Ly-a emitting galaxies formed in gasdynamics+N-body Adaptive Refinement Tree cosmological simulations that include -- among others --star formation and feedback, cooling, full radiative transfer of ionizing radiation, etc. I present results for spectra and images of these objects as they would be observed on Earth -- after taking into account the resonant scattering of the Ly-a photons off of neutral hydrogen. I address several questions, in particular the ability (or not) of the Ly-a lines and images to yield information about the emitting galaxies (SFR/underlying stellar population, geometry/size of emitting region, kinematics, etc) and/or its surrounding/intervening IGM. The latter is particularly interesting in the context of reionization.
