The number density evolution of X-ray clusters at a fixed temperature is a powerful cosmological test proposed by Oukbir and Blanchard (1992), which is somewhat different in nature from standard analyses based on the dynamical measurement of individual objects. Recently, temperature measurements of ten EMSS clusters at 0.3 ≤ z ≤ 0.4 have allowed for the first time the application of this test (Henry, 1997). In my talk , I will present the preliminary result from the analysis we have performed recently in Strasbourg of this data set as well as a new estimation of the local temperature distribution function of clusters. The determination of Ω0 by a likelihood analysis of the temperature distribution functions gives a preferred value of 0.75± 0.2 (1 σ) entirely consistent with the work of Sadat et al.(1998). An open model with Ω0 smaller than 0.4 is rejected with a level of significance greater than 90%.
