Spatially resolved observations have been made of the H-alpha and forbidden N II and S II line profiles over the filamentary edge of the WR nebula RCW 104. A variety of unusual kinematic phenomena have been discovered. A dominant velocity component from the diffuse gas and over the filamentary edge occurs with V(HEL) = -50 + or - 3 km/s, which is also likely to be the systemic radial velocity. There is some splitting by about 40 km/s of this component in the vicinity of the WR star. However, a simple radially expanding shell is not indicated. Most interesting are the knots of high-speed gas, V(HEL) = -100 to -170 km/s, which occur over the filamentary edge. These could be localized flows around globules. Line ratios suggest that the bulk of the low-speed gas is radiatively ionized interstellar gas. The ionization of the high-speed component may have another origin. Shocks are considered, but cooling within mass-loaded flows is suggested. Radiatively ionized, nitrogen-rich, high-speed stellar ejecta are also possible.
