By binning Chandra and XMM-Newton data around lines of constant surface brightness and spectral fitting the subsequent equal signal to noise regions, we have constructed high-resolution thermodynamic maps for a sample of the most X-ray luminous galaxy clusters known. Results include temperature, pressure, metallicity and entropy. The X-ray maps are compared with weak lensing and Sunyaev Zel'dovich maps to determine the detailed structure and matter content of the galaxy clusters and to constrain the nature of dark matter. The sample results will be used to define optimal strategies for cosmological work. Here we focus on intitial results for the nearby, X-ray luminous lensing cluster Abell 2390.
