The authors report the results of detailed studies of the interface between the NGC 1977 H II region and the adjacent molecular cloud. A 6 cm continuum map, made with the VLA, and a map of the C76α line give a clearer picture of the interface between the H II region and the molecular cloud. The interface region is seen nearly edge on but appears to be somewhat tilted with respect to the line of sight. The following molecular transitions have also been mapped across the interface region: CO (J = 1→0); 13CO and C18O (J = 1→0; J = 2→1), HCO+ and H13CO+ (J = 1→0), DCO+ (J = 1→0; J = 2→1), HCN (J = 1→0), H2CO (J = 212→111).
