High-resolution (approximately equal to or less than 1 arcsec) MERLIN observations at 73 and 18 cm of the nucleus of NGC 1068 are presented. The 18-cm radio structure strongly suggests the presence of a radio jet emanating from a central component. This central component is smaller than 1 arcsec and shows a low-frequency turnover which is interpreted as being due to free-free absorption by clouds in the forbidden-line region (FLR). It is estimated that a typical FLR cloud has a mass of approximately 1 solar mass and from this it is argued that the beam velocity of the jet could be of order 1000 Km/s.
