Emission from the J = 4→3 transition of cyanoacetylene has been observed towards seven dark clouds with a spectral resolution of 0.062 km s-1. These observations were made with the 22 m-radiotelescope of the Lebedev Physcial Institute at Puschino. The optical depth and excitation temperature of the J = 4 level of HCCCN were obtained for each cloud by measuring the intensity ratio of the hyperfine components of the line. Densities and HCCCN abundances were derived.
