The technique of super-resolution imaging will be used to obtain near-IR images of Io with sufficient resolution to map the surface on this volcanically active satellite of Jupiter. A series of four images in each filter will be recorded with 4-point square dithering a distance of 91.5 pixel offsets { 4''}. This will provide a well-sampled data set that will be used to reconstruct images of higher resolution. The use of several filters should provide some insight into the distribution and time variablity of specific mineralogical species. These data will distinguish H2S and SO2 surface features and monitor the eruption of materials onto Io's surface. Io will be imaged at longitudes corresponding to the trailing and leading hemispheres. A third orbit, placed on hold, will be used to map one of these a second time to look for time variability of the distribution of surface deposits. Calibration of the point spread function will be made on a nearby star.
