Using high-resolution (Δv = 15 km s-1) echelle spectrograms, the authors determined the profiles of high-ionization forbidden lines (ranging from [Fe VII] to [Fe XIV]) in the spectra of three Seyfert 1 and four Seyfert 2 galaxies. Compared to the lower-ionization lines, the observed profiles are in most cases more symmetric and closer to a Gaussian shape. An exception is the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 4507, where the [Fe VII] lines show double-peak profiles. The results confirm the existence of correlations between the widths and velocity shifts of the forbidden NLR lines with their critical densities and ionization potentials.
