Solar Cosmic Rays

Scientific paper

High-energy solar cosmic rays (SCR) are analyzed from 5 min data recorded by the high-mountain neutron monitor of Alma-Ata. Eight intensity increases during solar proton events with amplitudes of 0.4 - 2.0% are identified. The temporal intensity pattern is investigated for the events of May 7, 1978, and December 7 - 8, 1982. Integral SCR fluxes are computed for three cases; they agree with the spectra determined from the results of satellite measurements, measurements in the stratosphere, and measurements of high-latitude neutron monitors. The upper limit of the energy flux of SCR is determined and found to equal 9±1, 11±2, and 9.5±1.5 GeV for the three mentioned events, respectively.
