The attitude reconstitution (AR) procedure that will be used for the reduction of Hipparcos data is examined. The principles underlying the Hipparcos mission are briefly reviewed, and the AR specifications are explained. The sufficiency of the Star Mapper data to attain target accuracy is demonstrated. Encouraging results obtained from simulated experiments are reported.
