We report the discovery of a new bipolar Herbig-Haro flow near Taurus Molecular Cloud 1C via Hα imaging at the Palomar 60 inch (P60) Telescope. The HH 408 system consists of two oppositely directed jets from the T Tauri star Haro 6-33, two bowshocks 36 arcsec WSW and 110 arcsec ENE of the star, and additional faint knots beyond each bowshock along the flow axis. The structure of the larger ENE bowshock is unusual, with a flattened apex and bent-back wings. Proper motion measurements between our discovery images and the Digital Sky Survey imply a tangential velocity of 280 km s(-1) for the brighter WSW bowshock, and confirm its motion away from Haro 6-33. Follow-up optical imaging and spectroscopy using the Kitt Peak 90 inch telescope show that [S II] emission from the flow is relatively weak in comparison to Hα . No near-infrared H_2 or Brackett gamma emission was detected from the jets or the WSW bowshock in initial P60 images. The outflow source star is detected by IRAS and is located at the base of a small arm of reflection nebulosity. A millimeter continuum detection of the source using the IRAM 30 m telescope shows that it has a relatively weak flux density for a Herbig-Haro exciting star. The HH 408 system is a new, nearby example of a highly collimated Herbig-Haro flow, and merits additional detailed study. Plans for follow-up observations will be discussed.
