At the site of the diffuse visual image of the peculiar object Henize 2-442 (Perek-Kohoutek 61 + 2.1 deg) an infrared image tube shows two starlike sources approximately 6 sec apart, oriented NE-SW. For lambda = 4000-6800 A both sources have emission-line spectra outwardly resembling those of planetary nebulae of excitation class 3-4. He 2-442B differs from He 2-442A mainly in showing lambda 4686 He II, whose intensity indicates a hot (approximately 100,000 K) emission source. The continuum level has been reached only in He 2.442A, near the H-alpha line, whose equivalent width is approximately 450-650 A.
