Solar wind parameters show strong solar cycle variations in plasma flux, plasma pressure, and magntic field strength. These variations produce variations in geomagnetic activity. Enhanced helium abundance is an identifying characteristic of interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs); we compare a published ICME list not based on helium abundance with intervals of enhanced helium abundance and show that the coincidence is reasonably good. Comparison of Wind and ACE helium observations generally show lower correlations between the helium to proton abundances profiles observed by the two spacecraft than between the profiles of other solar wind parameters. Correlations of the helium abundance are not larger in ICMEs, although magnetic field and density correlations are better within ICMEs.
