We present a two dimensional, cylindrically symmetric simulation of an X-ray burst. The explosion was followed along a 2 km stretch of a neutron star atmosphere for a total time of 166 μ s. The calculation was performed using the FLASH code, a parallel, multidimensional, adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) hydrodynamics code developed by the Center for Astrophysical Thermonuclear Flashes, an ASCI Alliance Center. This work is supported by the Department of Energy under Grant No. B341495.
