We present a two dimensional, cylindrically symmetric simulation of an X-ray burst. The explosion was followed along a 2 km stretch of a neutron star atmosphere for a total time of 166 μ s. The calculation was performed using the FLASH code, a parallel, multidimensional, adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) hydrodynamics code developed by the Center for Astrophysical Thermonuclear Flashes, an ASCI Alliance Center.
