A Trojan asteroid discovered by August Kopff in 1907, designated (624) Hektor. It belongs to the largest group of Trojans, orbiting ahead of Jupiter around the L4 Lagrangian point. Hektor orbits the Sun at a mean distance of 5.17 AU (774 million km) in a period of 11.76 years; the inclination is 18° and the eccentricity 0.02.
