Results are reported for high-dispersion spectroscopic observations and partially simultaneous uvby photometric observations of the peculiar B-type supergiant H-alpha variables HD 91619 and HD 96919. Significant fluctuations in the annual means of the characteristic times of the variations are detected for HD 96919, and it is found that the H-alpha profiles of both stars varied markedly during the observations. The existence of variable large-scale velocity fields in the outer parts of both stellar atmospheres is suggested, and radial velocities are determined from Na D, He I, and Si II lines. Some correlations between rapid photometric fluctuations and simultaneous H-alpha profile variations are noted. It is concluded that an instability of unknown subphotospheric origin is very likely to be present in the atmospheres of these stars and that some of the irregular photometric fluctuations are caused by irregular atmospheric motions.
