Six-meter telescope spectrograms of 9 and 28 A/mm dispersion, as well as photometery in the seven-color Vilnius system, are used in an investigation of the heavily reddened star HD 29647. The hydrogen lines and Balmer discontinuity yield an effective temperature of 15,600 K, establishing this as a peculiar Hg-Mn star, with a radial velocity which at + 14.1 + or - 1.0 km/sec nearly coincides with that of the Taurus dark cloud and the embedded T Tau variables. On the basis of the photometry, it is judged that trace variability may exist in the short wavelength U, P, X bands.
