The possibility of extracting resources from asteroids is examined. It is suggested that carbon, water, platinum group metals, gold, nickel, iron, and cobalt could be obtained from asteroids. The various types of asteroids are listed and plans for missions to asteroids are reviewed. Consideration is given to the possible techniques for extracting asteroid resources and returning them to earth.
