Hard X-ray measurements are presented of the Her X-1 spectrum during a mid turn-on in April 1980. Two multiwire spectroscopic proportional counters were used with a geometric area of 900 sq cm each in the range of 15 to 170 keV. Results confirm the presence of a strong emission line in Her X-1 even during the mid turn-on state, and the high value of the integral hard X-ray flux from the source can be correlated with the strong variability of the source.
