Sco X-1 was observed on September 20, 1977 and September 28, 1981 in the 18 - 250 keV energy range by the MPI/AIT balloon borne phoswich detectors and also by cooled Ge solid state detectors in the 1981 observation (HEXE experiment), flown from Palestine, Texas/USA. The paper presents details of the 1981 observation along with the first reported observation of Sco X-1 with a Ge spectrometer and of the 1977 observation. The implications of these results in terms of the source phenomenology are briefly discussed. The repetitive flux modulations observed in the 1981 observation are discussed in terms of quasi-periodic oscillations detected in the optical flux of Sco X-1 and in some of the dwarf-novae occurring after their peak eruptions.
