Lyman-alpha radiation may excite Lyman-band fluorescence from vibrationally excited H2. Because of the resonant nature of the process, pumping rates in various H2 lines are dependent both on temperature and on the L-alpha profile. Absolute and relative pumping rates in the resonances are computed. Applications to the recently observed sunspot H2 fluorescent emission and to interstellar gas are described.
