Dawson's conjecture states that the h-vector of a matroid complex is
log-concave. A proof is given for matroids representable over a field of
characteristic zero, and in particular for all graphs. The proof is based on
the geometric deletion-restriction formula of Denham, Garrousian, and Schulze.
