The H I properties and mass distribution of the Sculptor group galaxy NGC 247 are examined with reference to VLA observations in the hybrid C/D configuration. As compared with other late-type spirals, the H I disk is not very extended, barely reaching the Holmberg diameter; the total H I mass is 8.0 + or - 0.3 x 10 to the 8th solar masses. On the basis of the luminous component only, a maximum (M/LB)-asterisk of 4.5 is found for the stellar disk. While the mass of the stellar disk is well determined, the halo parameters are much less constrained.
