As part of a pilot program to map the distribution of galaxies in the galactic Anticenter region of the Zone of Avoidance, we present the results of a redshift survey for a homogeneous sample of low galactic latitude, faint, putative galaxies. A sample of 86 galaxy candidates selected from the list compiled by Weinberger (1980) has been observed with the Arecibo 305 m telescope in the 21 cm line of H I. The sample objects are located within 2 deg of the galactic plane. 21 cm line spectra provide a tool to confirm the identification as galaxies and measure their redshifts. Our H I observations have detected 30 of the 86 candidates observed.
