H I observations of the S pec galaxy NGC 5635 with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope are presented. The large values of its mass and mass/luminosity ratio (7.5×1011M_sun; and 28 M_sun;/L_sun; inside R25 = 22 kpc) and the strong asymmetries in the light and the hydrogen distributions are the most prominent characteristics of this spiral galaxy. NGC 5635 and other massive disk galaxies seem to be somewhat displaced from the Tully-Fisher relation towards larger velocities and lower luminosities. Two companion galaxies, an edge-on spiral and a dwarf irregular, were also detected in H I.
