H I observations of the southern barred spiral galaxy NGC 1097 have been made with about 25 arcsec resolution. The H I is found in the prominent spiral arms and in the bar. Noncircular motions are clearly present in and around the bar and can be understood in terms of existing gas flow models. The spiral arms exhibit large streaming motions as found in galaxies with strong density waves. The outer regions, in particular to the northwest, are somewhat disturbed, most likely due to gravitational interaction with the small companion galaxy.
