Aperture synthesis observations of 21-cm H I emission towards the galactic H II region/molecular cloud complex W3 are presented. The region, an example of recent OB star formation, was observed with the Half-Mile Telescope at a spatial resolution of 1.5 x 1.7 arcmin and a velocity resolution of 4 km/sec. Results reveal a large cloud of H I emission to be associated with W3 and with optical filaments in the IC 1795 nebula, possibly representing neutral shells of matter preceding expanding ionization fronts. Absorption features are found towards the compact H II regions W3A, W3B and W3N, possibly indicating photodissociated H I associated with the H II regions, while H I self-absorption features are seen towards most of the molecular clouds not associated with H II regions, at column densities consistent with dissociation by cosmic rays alone. Finally, an expanding shell of H I emission is found to be associated with the SNR HB3, located just outside the nonthermal radio shell and possibly representing a dense neutral shell associated with the supernova shock.
