The eclipsing binary β Lyrae has been extensively researchedfor more than two centuries. Spectral analysis is one method thatis used to gain knowledge of its unique structure. The Hα emission has been associated with a bipolar flow component in thesystem. We extracted and analyzed Hα data obtained at theRitter Observatory. The 162 Hα emission line spectra aredouble-peaked in appearance. We measure the equivalent width, characterize the line widths, and infer total line fluxes. Wefind that the line flux of Hα varies little with the orbitalperiod of 12.9 days.
