Scanning Fabry-Perot observations of the well known spiral galaxy NGC 3198 are presented. Reconstructed H-alpha images are used to compile a catalog of 104 H II-regions. The velocity field shows evidence for systematic deviations from purely axisymmetric rotation in the inner parts, but is symmetric at larger radii. A global uniform contraction of an inner ringlike structure is described, but the question of the presence of a central bar remains controversial. The rotation curve out to about 3.3 arcmin = 9.5 kpc is presented, and found to be in very good agreement with other determinations in the literature.
