Deep CCD narrow-band H-alpha imaging of the dwarf irregular galaxy DDO 53 has revealed a total of 18 H II regions. Positions, H-alpha luminosities, and sizes of these objects are tabulated. The luminosity function agrees, within its limited statistical significance, with the normal relation found for irregular galaxies. The size distribution has an exponential shape, as for other galaxies, with a size scale of 59 + or - 6 pc.
