GY Tel is a 12th magnitude short-period (O.446-d) eclipsing binary showing a very deep primary eclipse which differs largely in depth from the secondary one. The first photoelectric observations are presented. They were obtained at Bosque Alegre (Cordoba) and at CASLEO (San Juan) and define good UBV light curves for this system. Eight epochs of minimum light are presented and are included in a period study together with old photographic and visual observations. GY Tel is another short-period thermally decoupled system of special interest for theories of evolution and structure of close binary systems.
