Graphical user interfaces are developed at ESO mainly for instrument and telescope control, archives and data reduction. The ESO GUI Common Conventions are based on the MOTIF graphic standard and secure the compatibility and similarity of the interfaces. Different interfaces have been developed in MIDAS using GUI builders: XHelp for accessing the on-line documentation, XEchelle and XSpectra for the reduction of echelle and long-slit spectra.
