After the release of HST from the shuttle bay it is necessary to verify that the guide star acquisitions can be performed successfully. Four pairs of guide stars will be acquired in FGS2 and FGS3 and held in fine lock for 15 to 40 minutes. Some re-acquisitions will be initiated. Pre-requisites for this test are the Gyro/FHST alignment if a Gyro has been replaced and the FHST/FGS Calibration if it is determined that the servicing mission caused a misalignment. Special requirements include some real-time engineering telemetry and use of the largest search radius. Other than possibly accommodating a small alignment shift by increasing the operational search radius, no onboard or PDB updates are anticipated.
