The status of theoretical studies of nonlinear cosmological structure is reported. The approach presented is to follow the full evolution of the correlation function and velocity statistics in a more general framework than that of Davis and Peebles (1977) (DP). Consistent hierarchical forms are assumed for all the required higher order moments, with amplitude coefficients left to be determined. It is found that DP's assumptions are not independent, and in fact could easily have been contradictory.
