On the Solution Growth Facility (SGF) of the European Retrievable
Carrier (EURECA), clear, colorless crystals of calcium carbonate up to 3
mm long have been grown from aqueous solution without the use of a gel.
This is a much improved result compared with previous solution growth of
CaCO_3.
