Recent literature on the magnetohydrodynamic or electromagnetic wave production in the ionosphere by man-made sources is discussed. Topics studied include the production of waves ranging from VLF to ULF in the ionosphere, and conductivity or electric field perturbations which are caused by modulated HF waves or by large amplitude acoustic waves from a near earth disturbance. Consideration is given to plasma wave excitation produced by amplitude continuous radio waves from satellite or rocket transmitters.
