Gamma Rays: Bursts, Methods: Observational

We discuss search strategies used in the gamma ray burst alert program and point out the weakness of the present situation. We estimate the number of variable stars to be found inside the error boxes and use the finding of (both new and already known) variable stars as a measure of the quality of the searching method. Based on theoretical and statistical expectations and on previous and recent results as well, we propose a reasonable search strategy for burst alert analysis.
