Extreme Mass Ratio inspirals of compact stellar objects into central supermassive black holes are predicted to be a robust and frequent source of low frequency gravitational radiation. I review the predicted rate of such coalescences in the local universe and consider some of the uncertainties, the likely history of mergers and some of the physics and astronomy that can be tested with observations of inspirals.
