A technique for computing post-Newtonian corrections to the gravitational-wave intensity of a gravitating system is proposed. The technique is based on a set of governing Einstein equations which can be written in an integrodifferential form. It is shown that the obtained first-order corrections can significantly affect the estimates of the quadrupole strength of the gravitational-waves emitted by a spinning neutron star, when the star has been rendered asymmetric by magnetic stresses.
