We consider the space time structure of a black hole-ring system1 in which a non-rotating black hole is surrounded by a gravitating accretion disk, here simplified to be a thin ring. We then consider the vertical oscillation of the disk about its equilibrium position caused due to a small perturbation of the ring along the vertical direction. We compute the gravity wave luminosity and loss rate of angular momentum to study how the perturbation dampens after the continuous emission of the gravitational waves.
