General relativistic prediction for the gravitational radiation emitted by gravitationally interacting systems is reviewed with emphasis on the two-body problem. The quadrupole formula is presented, and the Einstein-Infield-Hoffman and Fock-Papapetrou lines of development are introduced. Works analyzing the radiation damping with fluid model sources are considered, and the role of expansion parameters is discussed. In addition, problems of avoiding incoming radiation and the natural condition of an initially stationary history are examined.
