Galaxies and cluster of galaxies act as gravitational telescopes for objects in their background. The lensing effects caused by these gravitational telescopes have profound effects on the observation of celestial objects.
We present the effects of strong-lensing by galaxies and cluster of galaxies on the observed magnitudes and rates of supernovae. In our study galaxies are considered to have elliptical NFW mass profiles, while cluster of galaxies are treated as spherically symmetric deflectors. We investigate the effects of the ellipticity ɛ of the galactic mass models and compare the obtained results. Also, we briefly discuss the introduced bias and the calculated gain factors for supernovae.
