Since radiative pressure in a star interior is usually small relative to gas pressure, the interior of large, hot plasma clouds should be an important consideration in the study of radiative processes. The present consideration of the influence of radiative processes on the gravitational instability of an inviscid plasma cloud obtains an instability criterion from a dispersion equation which indicates that radiation pressure (1) stabilizes the system, and that (2) the critical wavelength is longer than that envisioned by Jeans (1902).
