The GRASP mission is the first genuine high-quality spectral imager designed to operate over a wide spectral range with a high sensitivity. Fundamental new astrophysical data will be revealed by this exploratory mission to investigate gamma-ray sources in what is basically an unexplored waveband for the first time with both high spectral and high spatial resolution.
