More complete treatments of the ionization balance and grain charging and of the grain dynamics and grain-neutral drag than previously used in dense cloud shock models are employed to study C-type shocks. For parameters similar to those used in earlier shock modeling, the shock models have structures which are similar to those of the earlier models. For higher number densities, the temperature peaks of the more sophisticated models are narrower and slightly higher than those of models based on the previously used description. An E x B drift-driven runaway occurs for some shock parameters. When the runaway develops fully, rapid variations in ion and electron temperatures and ionization conditions occur.
