Launched in March 2009, ESA’s Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer GOCE started its scientific measurement phase end of September 2009. Four complete mappings of the Earth with excellent data quality have been accumulated so far at an orbital altitude of 255 km. The presentation will cover the mission history, give an update of the satellite and mission performances and discuss the plans for continuation and potential extension of the mission.
