This paper reports on the eruption of comet Hale-Bopp in September 1996.
Two globular ejecta are observed near the nucleus of the comet on Sept.
10 and 11, 1996. We measured the projected velocity to be some 100 m/s.
Subsequently the ejecta evolved into a pair of huge jets.
