Low-latitude Pi 2 pulsations can be explained by cavity resonance of the inner magnetosphere. On the other hand, high-latitude Pi 2 pulsations are mainly caused in association with shear Alfven wave excited at high- latitude magnetic shells or westward auroral electrojets during substorm. Consequently, Pi 2 pulsations observed on the ground are a superposition of several different components, so that the global structure of Pi 2 pulsations is still unclear, especially the relationship between high- and low-latitude Pi 2. In this report, we applied the so-called Independent Component Analysis (ICA) to analyze the global wave characteristics of Pi 2 pulsations. ICA is the method for finding underlying factors or components from multidimensional statistical data. It started to be used in 1990s in the field of signal processing and has been successful in resolving observed mixed signals, including brain imaging data and voice signals. With ICA, it is presumed that the observed signals formed by linear mixing, and the mixing system is unknown. The source signals assumed non-Gaussian and statistically independent of each other.
