The Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope's (GLAST) Science Analysis Software (SAS) group is comprised of a small and distributed group of software developers. Leveraging existing software has been a vital element in terms of propelling our software ahead as far as possible so that work can focus on those areas where GLAST software is unique. This paper will focus on our use of a C++ software framework and ROOT as a file format within the Large Area Telescope (LAT) collaboration. The reasons why we required a software framework and how we chose Gaudi will be discussed.
